The Michel Bernard Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide emotional support and physical relief from the pain and suffering caused by cancer symptoms. Home-based palliative care allows terminally ill individuals to spend their final moments in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by loved ones.

The Michel Bernard Foundation’s work is based on partnerships with CLSCs (Local Community Service Centres) and other organizations, providing access to quality complementary palliative care services at home. The Foundation supports healthcare teams whose services to the population are adequate but insufficient. This approach ensures comprehensive and integrated patient care and promotes access to home care within the healthcare system.

In partnership with CLSCs and other organizations, the Foundation contributes to the well-being of terminally ill individuals and supports their families by funding private services that complement those provided by the healthcare system.

To promote access to palliative care at home and contribute to improving the quality of life of patients, the following private complementary services are provided:

• Access to nursing care
• Access to comfort care at all times
• Helping terminally ill patients obtain the financial resources necessary for their basic needs by covering the cost of medications, rent, heating, transportation, etc.

The Michel Bernard Foundation was established in 2011. Michel Bernard passed away from cancer in 2008.

In memory and for the love of their son, his parents created this Foundation in his name.
